The Conference to Remember

What a week. Seriously, last week was amazing.

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give a better update as the week went on–the internet at the Waterford School was hit and miss.

I had the greatest time. There’s nothing that will pump you up more about writing than attending a writers conference for 40 hours a week.

My first five pages have jumped leagues in just a few days. I feel like I have a first chapter that could sell. I’m so pumped to do the revisions on the rest of my manuscript and then start sending off my queries.

I have my sights set on Mary Kole, an agent from Andrea Brown, who was at WIFYR this week. She gave the plenary speech on Friday & I absolutely adore her. She’s so spunky and fun. It would be a blast to work with her. She’s certainly going to be one of the first I send my query to.

I won’t be around much this week, but I hope that I can keep the momentum going for a long while. I think my head grew about ten sizes this week and my confidence is soaring. Now I just need to hold on to it. Well, the confidence at least. My head could do with a little shrinking. 🙂

So here’s a video that one of my critique group members put together. The beginning is a blurb of Alane Ferguson’s critique group (look carefully and you’ll see me!). The end is super entertaining…Carol Lynch Williams and Cheri Pray Earl sing “Writing a Bad Romance” and the finale has a wonderful little dance from Mary Kole. 🙂 And then I get my two seconds in the spotlight…I’m the one talking about how the conference was worth every penny.

Enjoy!

PS. My book reviews will be on Friday for the next three weeks. I’m guest blogging on another blog.

About Karen Krueger

I write for teens when I'm not chasing after two cute kids. I love to sing and eat cereal (though not at the same time), and I most certainly am not a vampire because I'm addicted to sunshine.
