This blog isn’t one that is good for every day reading, because it is just book reviews. However, it’s great for getting recommendations for your next read. She works for Barnes & Noble, so she has access to advance reader copies and newly released books. She reviews a lot of what’s currently popular, but she also reviews older books as well. It’s a nice mix.

She is a writer, and it comes through in her reviews, because she not only rates the story but the writing. I’m the type of reader that pays attention to the quality of the writing as well, so I like to see what she thinks. For writers who pay attention to such things, this aspect of her reviewing is great.

I enjoy her reviews because she is not afraid to point out the flaws in books–she’s very honest. But she gives fair reviews. Even if she didn’t enjoy many aspects of a novel, she will tell you what is good about it. She doesn’t give away stars lightly. Out of all her reviews, only one has received five stars. Most get a three, three and a half rating.

Top rated books from Cherylynne:

Five stars: The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams

Four and a half stars: When You Reach Me by Rebbecca Stead; The Giver by Lois Lowry

Four stars: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak; Finding Daddy by Louise Plummer; see more

About Karen Krueger

I write for teens when I'm not chasing after two cute kids. I love to sing and eat cereal (though not at the same time), and I most certainly am not a vampire because I'm addicted to sunshine.
